Material:
- 1 glass vase
- 1 sheet of white (or another light color) rice paper (dark colors wont show transparency effects)
- glossy colorless acrylic finishing varnish
- a flat paintbrush (approx. # 14)
- golden stickers
- alcohol
- kitchen paper
Clean the glass vase thoroughly with alcohol using kitchen paper. Prepare the rice paper tearing it apart with your hands; it's important that the paper is not clean-cut with scissors or cutters. It must have irregular borders, and so you will also have to modify paper's borders, which obviously, when you buy it, will have regular edges. Take your brush and give the vase a light coat of varnish, then position the rice paper, making sure it's even all over the glass.Be extremely delicate in order not to rip the paper. Proceed piece by piece until you have completely covered the vase. In case the vase is like the one shown, you willl have to fold the paper on its inside for about 1/4 inch. An alternative could be to stop the paper application a few millimeters underneath the edge and then add a tiny border with a golden acrylic paint. When you finish applying the paper carefully check not to leave too much transparent areas (wet rice paper might give the impression that some areas have not been treated at all): in this case tear adequate pieces of rice paper and glue them on top of the previous layer. Once you consider your work satisfying, spread another coat of varnish. Let it dry well before touching it.Repeat this last procedure for at least 5 times, making always sure to let it dry well between each coat (24 hours between one hand and the other should be sufficient). Finally decorate the vase with the golden stickers.
